WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL DEALT SECOND CONSECUTIVE DEFEAT, FALLS TO CCNY 3-0

The Lehman College women's volleyball team (6-4 Overall, 3-2 CUNYAC) suffered their toughest defeat of the season, falling to the City College of New York Beavers by scores of 6-25, 10-25, and 18-25 Tuesday evening at CCNY's Nat Holman Gymnasium in New York, NY.

Leading the way for the Beavers was standout Floriana Garo, as she paced her squad throughout the evening, finishing with a match-high 13 kills to go along with five digs. Also, Jamie Edindjiklian contributed to the victory with seven kills, nine digs, and seven service aces, and setter Alexis Kinsman put forth a tremendous effort, tallying a match-high 29 digs.

Despite the loss for the Lightning, sophomore Crissette Maxwell put forth a solid effort, finishing the evening with three kills to go along with 12 digs. Freshman setter Lisa Jagdeo recorded a team-high eight assists, and Gerri-Ann Martin, who received CUNYAC Rookie of the Week honors for the second time this season on Tuesday morning, finished her evening with four kills and four digs. Following the match, Head Coach Daniel Skilins gave his thoughts on what the Lightning need to do to get back on track.

“Our goal is to control our losing streaks,” Skilins said. “CCNY is a great team, and they outplayed us this evening, but I fully expect our squad to regroup and give it everything they have against Bard College. We're going to have three days off, so we'll get some rest and come back ready to play on Saturday.”

Lehman returns to action to face Bard College Saturday afternoon at the APEX Center, with match-time scheduled for 1:00pm.
