WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL TEAM HONORS CHRISTY PASQUALICCHIO, DEFEATS BLOODHOUNDS

The Lehman College Lightning women's volleyball team (14-11 Overall, 6-3 CUNYAC) won their final home match of the season by defeating the John Jay Bloodhounds (7-19, 4-5 CUNYAC) by scores of 25-22, 25-16, and 25-19 Tuesday evening  at the APEX Arena in the Bronx. Prior to the match, the Lehman College athletic department and the women's volleyball team took a moment to honor senior Christy Pasqualicchio. She was presented with a commemorative plaque and a bouquet of flowers by Director of Athletics Martin L. Zwiren and Head Coach Daniel Skilins to celebrate her three years on the team.

The match got off to a rocky start for the Lightning as John Jay took an early lead. Lehman would prevail winning the first set by three points and ultimately taking the final 2 sets. Leading the way for the Lightning was Gerri Ann-Martin as she posted match-highs in kills with 11 and digs with 12. Setter Lisa Jagdeo did her part as well as she tallied a match-high 21 assists while also contributing with nine digs. Libero Dilma Marte and Pasqualicchio each recorded three service aces. Following the win, Head Coach Daniel Skilins was pleased with the victory and wanted the team to enjoy it before looking ahead.

“We were a little nervous out there in the early stages of the match, but we played great,” Skilins said. “I have to give John Jay credit. I thought they played their hearts out and they tested us for most of the match. Now we have clinched a first round home match in the CUNYAC tournament and I think this is a huge step forward for the program. I'm very proud of this team.”

Despite the loss for the Bloodhounds, Tatyana Yachnik led the way for John Jay with a team-high seven kills. Erica Lee contributed a team-high 13 assists to go along with 10 digs. Andrea Medina also had a terrific game defensively as she recorded 10 digs.

The Lightning will return to action next Tuesday evening, November 4th, as Lehman hosts the College of Staten Island Dolphins in the City University of New York Quarterfinals. The match will take place at the APEX Center, with match time scheduled for 7:00pm.
