Men's Basketball

LIVE AUDIO AVAILABLE FOR MEN'S BASKETBALL'S NON-CONFERENCE CONTEST WITH KEYSTONE COLLEGE!

The Lehman College men's basketball team, winners of five of their last six games, will begin the new calendar year by taking on non-conference opponent Keystone College late Monday afternoon in La Plume, Pennsylvania, with game-time scheduled for 5:00 p.m. Lightning fans hoping to follow the action can listen to live audio of the game by clicking here.

The Lightning have gotten off to a tremendous start during the 2008-2009 season, capturing seven of their first 11 games, including their two CUNYAC contests. Lehman was riding a five-game winning streak heading into a battle the William Paterson Pioneers a week ago today, and the Lightning gave William Paterson all it could handle before falling in the final seconds of the game. Head Coach Steven Schulman has been very encouraged his team's togetherness and efforts.

“Our chemistry continues to improve each and every time we take the floor, and it is great to see these guys playing so well,” Schulman said. “We've played 11 games this season, and win or lose, we've been right there. There are things that this team is doing very well, and there are still things that we have to work on, but I feel as though we're playing great basketball as we get ready for a push towards a CUNYAC title.”

With Lehman resuming conference play on Wednesday evening against the College of Staten Island, the Keystone College Giants will serve as a good litmus test for the Lightning before the crucial portion of the schedule begins. The Giants, in seven games this season, have posted a 5-2 record. The premiere scoring threat for Keystone College is Tercel Taylor who averages 17 points per contest and more than two steals per game. As a team, the Giants thrive on forcing turnovers, as the squad has forced 125 opponent miscues in seven games, an average of 17 turnovers per game. The Lightning have done a tremendous job winning the turnover battle this season, so something will have to give when these two teams meet.
