Game 1 Box Score
Game 2 Box Score

The Lehman College softball team (2-9 Overall, 0-2 CUNYAC) dropped a pair of non-conference games, falling to the New Jersey City University Gothic Knights (8-12 Overall, 0-4 NJAC) by scores of 11-0 and 17-0 Thursday afternoon at the Thomas M. Gerrity Athletic Complex.

In game one, NJCU scored all the offense it would need in the first inning when it plated eight runs by virtue of only two hits against Lehman College starter Natalie Martinez. The Knights sent 14 batters to the plate, walked six times, were hit by four pitches, and advanced on five wild pitches.

For the Gothic Knights, it was Andrea Delucrezia picking up the victory as she struck out 10 batters and allowed just three hits, all singles. Offensively for NJCU, freshman centerfielder Nicole Sarica scored three times in a 2-for-3 outing and Christen Hall was 1-for-2 with two RBIs and two walks. Danielle Delfino, the leadoff hitter, drew three walks and scored twice.

For the Lightning, Martinez took the loss. Lehman College's three singles in the first game were off the bats of Lakeisha Gordon, Martinez, and Genesis Batista.

In the second game of the afternoon, NJCU received another strong pitching performance as Lacey Skowronski picked up the win, fanning six batters while tossing a two-hit shutout. At the dish for the Gothic Knights in game two, it was Taylor Lang finishing 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI and sophomore leftfielder Stephanie Gomez putting forth a 2-for-3 day with two runs and one RBI.

For Lehman, it was Martinez taking the loss in the second game as well. She did, however, pick up one of the Lightning's two hits, with the other hit coming off the bat of Batista, a double.

The Lightning will return to action Friday afternoon as the team returns home for a non-conference doubleheader against the College of New Rochelle, with the first game scheduled for 3:30pm.
