LEHMAN SOFTBALL DROPS CUNYAC DOUBLEHEADER TO BARUCH COLLEGE AT SOUTH FIELD

Game 1 Box Score
Game 2 Box Score

The Lehman College softball team (2-12 Overall, 0-5 CUNYAC) dropped a pair of conference contests on Wednesday afternoon, falling to the Baruch College Bearcats (12-9 Overall, 5-0 CUNYAC) by scores of 21-0 and 14-0 at the South Field in the Bronx. Both games lasted five innings due to the mercy rule.

In the first game of the day, the big story was the pitching of Bearcat hurler Andrea Tepfer, as she pitched a perfect game in picking up the win, tossing five innings and not allowing a baserunner while striking out 12 batters. Offensively for Baruch College, Melissa Pena, batting in the leadoff slot, finished the game 3-for-4 with a pair of triples, a walk, three runs scored and three RBI's. Michele Runko also chipped in with a tremendous performance as she went 3-for-4 at the dish with a double, a walk, three runs scored, and three RBI's.

The Bearcats plated two runs in the first inning, five in the second inning, four more in the third, three in the fourth and seven in the fifth to account for their 21 runs in the first game. Natalie Martinez went the distance and took the loss for Lehman in game one.

Baruch College would start Tepfer in game two of the day, and the right-hander would pick up the win in the nightcap as well, tossing three innings and allowing just one hit while striking out five. Lynn Schiano pitched two perfect innings to close things out. At the dish for the Bearcats in the second game, it was Pena once again getting things started for her club as she finished 3-for-3 with three singles, a walk, two runs scored, and four RBI's. Gisell Alix tripled twice and finished 2-for-3 with a pair of runs scored and two RBI's.

Lakeisha Gordon had the only hit for Lehman College in the second game – an infield single to the pitcher. Victoria McMahon pitched five innings and took the loss for the Lightning.

Lehman College will return to action tomorrow afternoon as the team takes to the road to battle St. Joseph's College of Long Island in a non-conference doubleheader. Game one begins at 3:30pm.
