NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. - A week off from competition did not seem to have any effect on the Lightning women's volleyball team on Monday night as Lehman defeated host College of New Rochelle 3-0 (25-10, 25-21, 25-22) to improve to 10-7 on the season.
Lehman, playing without star senior
Gerri-Ann Martin, was led by
Shari Quiles' eight kills, but also received solid contributions on the attacking end from
Yamilka Vicente (5 kills) and
Jo-Marie Aquino (4 kills). Aquino also chipped in with eight digs. Setter
Jasmine Bermudez collected 17 assists and six service aces for the Lightning.
The Lightning closes out the home portion of its regular season schedule on Tuesday night when conference rival Brooklyn College visits the APEX for a crucial matchup that could decide seeding for the upcoming CUNYAC Championships. Currently the Lightning holds a 4-2 record in conference while Brooklyn sits at 5-1.
