STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. - The Lehman College Lightning (0-8, 0-5 CUNYAC) continued its losing streak, falling to College of Staten Island (4-6, 4-2 CUNYAC) in a conference match Wednesday afternoon.
With its 0-8 record, the Lightning currently stands in last place in the City University of New York Athletic Conference.
Despite the loss, Moscow High School product Nellya Blinova won her match against Staten Island's Alena Vedeneeva in No. 1 singles action by the scores of 6-3, 6-2. Blinova improved her conference record to 3-2 earning the Lightning its only win.
In other singles action No.2 Marisela Camano was defeated by Ilona Stoyko 6-1, 6-0, while in No.3 play Aminat Adebayo was defeated by Demi Jean Martorano. In No.4 competition the Lightning's Patricia Cadet followed the same fate at the hands of the Dolphins' Katie Masterson, as did Jeremaeh Torres in No.5 to Jacquel Jamaleddine 6-0, 6-1.
On the doubles side, the combo of Blinova and Adebayo in No.1, and Cadet and Camano in No. 2, proved no match for their Dolphins counterparts.
The Lightning will travel to Morristown, N.J. to face College of St. Elizabeth for a non-conference game on Thursday afternoon.
