BRONX, N.Y. – The Lehman College women's tennis team concluded its match with John Jay on Saturday, with the Lightning holding on for the 5-4 victory. The match had begun on Thursday, October 11, but was suspended with Lehman ahead, 4-1, when darkness overtook the land.
The Bloodhounds (1-10-1, 1-5) rallied as play resumed, winning the first three matches. With the score tied at four apiece, Lehman freshman Neralda Zuniga (New York, N.Y./Dual Language and Asian Studies) fought off Ammarah Karim, 6-4, 4-6, 6-1, to seal the victory for the home team.
The Lightning (6-8, 2-4 CUNYAC) conclude the regular season with a CUNYAC match at York College on Monday, October 15. Lehman currently sits in a tie with York for the fifth and sixth seeds in the upcoming CUNYAC Championships, which begin on Wednesday, October 17.
