Women's Volleyball Rallies for Fourth Straight Win

BROOKLYN, N.Y. - The Lehman College women's volleyball team ran its winning streak to four straight after coming from behind to win at Brooklyn College, 3-2. Brooklyn won the first two sets before Lehman won the final three. Set scores were 0-25, 22-25, 25-21, 25-22, 15-9.

Lehman now moves into sole possession of third place in the CUNY Athletic Conference with a 3-1 record in the nine-member conference. Brooklyn falls to seventh place with a 1-3 mark.

Brooklyn won the first set by default, as the Lightning were late in arriving. The remaining four sets were all very competitive, with back-and-forth action.

Senior Vanessa Brown (Bronx, N.Y./Lehman HS) led the Lightning (7-5 overall) attack by recording a double-double, with ten kills and eleven digs. Sophomore Cari English (Yonkers, N.Y./Cardinal Spellman) had a team-high 12 kills, and classmate Jo-Marie Aquino (Bronx, N.Y./Cardinal Spellman) had eleven.

Sophomore Julia Mercado (Bronx, N.Y./Cardinal Spellman) had 13 digs, while freshman Imani Dubois (Bronx, N.Y./JP Taravella) had 26 set assists.

Lehman takes the weekend off, and will next play on Tuesday, October 2, at SUNY Old Westbury.
