Lightning Women's Tennis Strike Down Blue Angels

BRONX, N.Y. – The Lehman Lightning struck down the New Rochelle Blue Angels in women's tennis on Saturday, winning 6-3 in a non-conference match. Lehman improves to 4-5 on the season, while CNR is 1-3-1.

Lehman got off to a good start, winning two of the three doubles matches. Sophomore Nellye Blinova (New York, N.Y./Moscow, Russia) teamed with senior Ravnit Bhatia (West Nyack,N.Y./Clarkstown South) to win at first doubles, 8-4, while the freshman tandem of Natalie Carrasquillo (Bronx, N.Y./In-Tech Academy) and Neralda Zuniga (New York, N.Y./Dual Language & Asian Studies) won at third singles, 8-5.

In singles play, winners were Blinova at first, Bhatia at second, freshman Cristie Peralta (Santo Domingo, D.R.) at third, and Zuniga at fifth.

The Lightning continue with no-conference play on Monday, October 1, travelling to face St. Joseph's of Brooklyn at the US National Tennis Center.
