Aquino Hits .692 as Women's Volleyball Pounds CCNY, 3-0

NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Lehman College women's volleyball ran its winning streak to four in a row with a 3-0 sweep of CUNY Athletic Conference rival City College, on Tuesday evening. Set scores were 25-15, 25-15, 25-19.

Lehman has also now won three consecutive CUNYAC matches, and sits atop the conference at 3-0. Overall, Lehman is 6-2. CCNY is 3-5 overall, and 1-2 in the CUNYAC.

As a team, the Lightning attack was very effective, hitting .347, with 37 kills and only 12 errors. Leading the offense was junior Jo-Marie Aquino (Bronx, N.Y./Cardinal Spellman), who hit a whopping .692, on 18 kills and zero errors.

Junior setter Jessica Gonzalez (Bronx, N.Y./Bronx Theatre) had a match-high 26 assists, while classmate Julia Mercado (Bronx, N.Y./Cardinal Spellman) had eight digs. Gonzalez added six service aces, while junior  Cari English (Yonkers, N.Y./Cardinal Spellman) added five.

With a quick turnaround, Lehman hosts the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy on Wednesday night, at 7:00 p.m., in the Lehman College APEX.
