Box Score 2 MADISON, N.J. – The Lehman College women's volleyball team managed to split a pair of matches on Wednesday night, at the FDU Devils Tri-match. In the opener, Lehman fell to the hosts, FDU-Florham, 3-0, before rebounding to beat Purchase College, 3-1.
In the first match, FDU (3-3) jumped out fast, and took the first set 25-9. Lehman came back in the second, but could not hold on, falling 27-25. FDU then closed out the match, 25-10, in the third. Lehman hit .224 as a team, led by senior
Cari English (Yonkers, N.Y./Cardinal Spellman), who had eight kills while hitting .500. Junior
Imani Dubois (West Palm Beach, Fla./J.P. Taravella) had 18 assists and a pair of digs.
Against Purchase (0-6), sophomore
Salveira Gonzalez (Bronx, N.Y./RKA) exploded with 16 kills, as she hit .393. English added 12 kills, hitting .385. Dubois added 38 set assists and seven service aces, while senior
Julia Mercado (Bronx, N.Y./Cardinal Spellman) added 11 digs, five kills, and a many service aces. Set scores for the match were 25-12, 26-24, 23-25, and 25-21.
The Lightning (2-4) will open up the home portion of the regular season on Thursday, hosting William Paterson at 6:00 p.m.
