Netters Down College of New Rochelle……Twice

Bronx, NY - Lehman College and the College of New Rochelle finally got around to completing a match that was suspended for weather. The first part of the match was contested three weeks ago on the clay courts of the Beckwith Pointe Tennis Club. However a massive thunder storm rolled through the area forcing the teams to suspend play. The match resumed this afternoon of the APEX Courts earlier today with the outcome quickly determined. The Lightning only needed to conclude three of the matches they were leading combined with the two victories they received via forfeit to win 5-0. The over four singles matches were not finished in order for the teams to battle each other again.

In the nightcap the Lightning once again prevailed 6-3.

Lehman's first doubles team of Lynesse George and Kanto Rasedoara defeated their opponents 8-1 as did the second doubles team of Princess Roache and Natalie Carrasquilo. All four also went on to win their singles matches. At # 1 singles Roache defeated Nancy Varughese 8-4. At second singles George defeated Samantha Gomez 8-1. In the third spot Rasedoara blanked Shanique Roye 8-0. In the fourth hole Carrasquilo was victorious over Marie Gomez 8-1.

The contest was the season finale for the Lightning who ended the season with a mark of 5-9 having won their last three matches.
