Annandale-on-Hudson, N.Y. – The Lehman College women's tennis team continues their outstanding play on the court, defeating Bard College on the road, 9-0, Wednesday afternoon at the Stevenson Athletic Center Courts.
The win extends the season-long winning streak of 10 matches for the Lightning (11-1), as they move into sole possession of second place in the CUNYAC (3-1) behind Baruch at 6-0.
In singles play, Lehman cruised to six wins to none against the Raptors.
Sacha Espiritu won at No. 1 singles in a 6-2, 6-1 victory, while
Lizaveta Markouskaya earned a 6-0, 6-1 win in No. 2 play.
Mami Aoki,
Lynessa George,
Kantomalala Rasedoara and
Patricia Cadet secured straight-set victories.
On the doubles side, Espiritu and Markouskaya took care of the No. 1 doubles showdown 8-0. George and Rasedoara played to a tiebreaker and was able to win 9-8 (8-6) at the No. 2 matchup. Aoki and Cadet closed out the match with an 8-6 advantage in No. 3 doubles.
The Lightning will try for 11 straight wins in a CUNYAC matchup against Hunter College at home Saturday morning. First serve is set for 11:00 a.m. in the APEX Courts.
