Track and Basketball Highlight Friday’s Action

Bronx, NY – The Lightning men's and women's track and field teams will have their final tune-up tonight at the Molloy College Invitational in advance of the CUNYAC Championships.  Action gets underway at 4:00 PM at St. Anthony's High School in South Huntington, NY. The men's and women's basketball squads will head to Jamaica, Queens for their annual tilt at York College.  Both Lightning teams are having great seasons and look to head into post-season play on a winning note.

Here is the schedule of events for the track meet.

The women will hit the hardwood first with tip-off scheduled for 6:00 PM.  The Cardinals have had a tough go of it this season and come into tonight's contest with a record of 4-18:2-12.  In the first meeting between the two schools this season the Lightning prevailed 76-48.  Amely Del Roasrio paced the Lightning with 31 points as three other team mates added double figures.  The high pressure Lightning defense forced 19 turnovers and limited the Cardinals to 15-68 shooting (22%).   Del Rosario is the CUNYAC reigning Player of the Week; an honor she has earned the last four weeks.  The Lighting are owners of a 16-6 overall record and an 11-2 mark in conference play.
