Jose Albrincole allowed just one hit and no runs in eight-and-a-third innings on Saturday afternoon as the Lehman College baseball team picked up their first win of the season in a 1-0 result against Plattsburgh State University at the Ripken Experience in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
Albrincole struck out seven in his first start for the Lightning of Lehman (1-1). The freshman allowed just five base runners and a no-hitter going into the ninth inning, when he finally gave up a single to Plattsburgh junior first baseman Ray Flynn.
Lehman scored the go-ahead run in the bottom of the eighth when sophomore third baseman
Christopher Lopez crushed an RBI double to drive in junior second baseman
Steve Cuello. It was Lopez's second hit of the day. Sophomore third baseman
Natanael Toribio went three-for-four on the day.
The Cardinals of Plattsburgh (1-6) were led by sophomore pitcher Andrew Kramer, who struck out six batters in eight innings.
The Lightning will play a double-header against Penn State Berks on Sunday.
