Box Score 2 Bronx, NY - Lehman played host to the first CUNYAC tri-match as CCNY and CSI invaded the APEX for a trio of CUNYAC women's volleyball matches.
Lehman was pitted against the College of Staten Island in the middle match of the day. Fans were treated to a thriller as the Lightning prevailed in five sets. The Dolphins took the first set 25-20 and Lehman answered by winning the second set 25-21. In the third CSI jumped out and took control en route to a 25-15 victory. However, the Lightning would not go away easily as they regrouped to win the fourth set 25-23. Lehman kept the momentum going in the fifth by jumping out to a 7-0 lead and never looking back. The Lightning cruised in the deciding set 15-5.
In the final match of the day, Lehman battled a well-rested CCNY squad who had been sitting around for a couple of hours after their first match, a four set loss to CSI. Although the match was competitive the Lightning came out on the short end of a 4 set decision. The Beavers took the first set 25-22. Lehman was able to respond by winning the second set 25-20. However, CCNY took the third and fourth sets by scores of 25-21 and 25-23.
The Lighting were led by
Salveira Gonzalez's 13 kills on 45 attacks against CCNY. She was also credited with 15 digs.
Samantha Delgado recorded 23 assists.
Lindsay Pantaleon added 15 digs as well.
Gonzalez was also the statistical leader against CSI as she recorded 14 kills and 34 digs.. Delgado added 30 assists.
The Lightning return to action on Tuesday night at Purchase.
