Box Score Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College women's volleyball got behind right at the start, and could not rally back as they lost in straight sets against Farmingdale State, 3-0 [25-6, 25-13, 25-6], Tuesday night at the Apex Main Center.
Samantha Delgado led the Lightning (4-6) with three service aces, four assists and tied for the leader with three kills in a losing effort.
Salveira Gonzalez tallied three kills as well with two assists, while
Yzaira Galan added a kill and an ace.
For the Rams (4-3), Julia Hande led a balanced attack with a match-high nine kills along with 10 assists and five service aces. Maia Cadle-Hinton added seven kills and four blocks, while LaurenAnne Strezenec collected team-highs in both aces (8) and assists (12).
Farmingdale controlled the momentum at the start of the game, scoring 12 straight points in the first set as they went on to a 25-6 win. In the second, the Lightning battled back into the game after trailing and got it to within 16-12. However a 7-0 run put the set away.
Delgado got Lehman ahead to start the third set with three straight aces, but could not stop the Rams' comeback. With Hande serving, they rattled off 14 straight points including four aces as they closed out the straight-set win.
Lehman will head on the road for six straight games after tonight, traveling to face off with CUNYAC foe Brooklyn College Thursday night. First serve is set for 6:00 p.m.
