New York – The Lehman College women's tennis team dropped a close fought CUNYAC match to John Jay, 5-4, in a match played in Manhattan on Tuesday. The team falls to 4-10 overall, but is still a respectable, 3-2 in CUNYAC competition.
The Lightning dominated doubles play, winning two-of-three flights. The pairing of
Sacha Espiritu and
Lizaveta Markouskaya prevailed 8-5. At doubles, the team of Joanna Roasrio and
Leslie Juanacio came out on top, 9-7.
Celine Figueroa and
Alana Bierman lost their match in a tie-break.
Lehman won a pair of singles matches, both in straight sets. From the number one position, Espiritu triumphed, 6-4, 6-3, while Rosario won at sixth singles, 7-5, 6-1. Bierman also won a set in her match.
The Lehman College women's tennis team returns to the court on Thursday, October 12 at 3:30 PM, when the face the College of Staten Island on the road.
