Staten Island, N.Y. – The Lehman College women's tennis team was edged by the College of Staten Island, 5-4, in a CUNYAC match played on Staten Island on Thursday. This was the final regular-season match for the Lightning, and they finished with a 4-11 overall mark and a 3-3 record in conference play.
Lehman earned a point from the first doubles team of
Sacha Espiritu and
Lizaveta Markouskaya. They won their match, 8-1. The other two doubles flights went to the Dolphins.
The singles matches were even, with each side prevailing in three flights. Espiritu, playing first singles, continued her dominant season with a 6-0, 6-0 victory. Markouskaya, the second player for Lehman, prevailed in a more competitive match, 6-1, 7-5. Finally
Yohara Molineros came out on top in sixth singles. She won by scores of 6-3 and 6-4.
The Lehman College women's tennis team will participate in the CUNYAC quarterfinal match on Sunday, October 22. The opponent, location and start time are still to be determined.
