The Lehman College women's tennis team begins their quest for the Conference Championship this afternoon as they play John Jay at the USTA National Tennis Center. First serve is scheduled for 12:00 PM.
Lehman has revenge on their mind as twelve days ago the Bloodhounds upended the Lightning 5-4. The match started with the doubles competition where the Lightning won two of three matches. At first doubles the pairing of
Sacha Espiritu and
Lizaveta Markouskaya prevailed 8-5. At third doubles
Joanna Rosario and
Leslie Juanacio were also victorious prevailing 9-7. Lehman was a little unlucky to drop the second doubles match in a tie-breaker 10-8.
In singles play Lehman got victories from Espiritu at number one 6-4, 6-3 and at sixth singles as Rosario won 7-5, 6-1. John Jay won singles at the 2, 3, and 5 position before they were able to eke out a come from behind three set victory in the four hole.
The winner of today's match will move onto to play top seed CSI on Tuesday.
