Flushing, N.Y. – The Lehman College women's tennis team took two-of-three doubles flights but fell to Yeshiva, 6-3, in a match played in Flushing, New York, on Thursday. The team is now 1-3 on the year after dropping three-straight.
Sacha Espiritu and
Lizaveta Markouskaya dominated the first doubles flight, winning 8-0. The pairing of
Celine Figueroa and
Alana Bierman prevailed in the second flight, 8-1. Figueroa has had the hot hand lately for the Lightning.
Espiritu triumphed in her singles match, also pitching a shutout, love and love. The most exciting singles match also went to Lehman, as Markouskaya was locked in a thriller with Rebecca Packer. Packer took the first set 6-2. Markouskaya won the second set by that same, 6-2 score. The final set went to Markouskaya 10-4.
The Lehman College women's tennis team returns to action on Thursday, September 21 at Farmingdale State at 4:30. The home match slated for Saturday the 16
th at noon against Drew University has been cancelled.
