The APEX will be a buzz on Saturday as Lehman welcomes back its' alumni as the Lightning host John Jay in a CUNYAC basketball double header. The women's game will tip off the day's events at noon. That will be followed by an Alumni Game at 1:45 PM and subsequently by the men's game between Lehman and John Jay.
Earlier this season the Lightning (11-9:7-4) women easily cruised to a 76-30 victory over John Jay (1-18:1-10) at the Doghouse.
Lillybeth Garcia paced Lehman with 20 points.
Ayanna Behagen and
Aliyah Dorsett added 14 apiece. The Lightning led wire to wire. Their hallmark pressure defense produced 32 Bloodhounds turnovers and limited John Jay to only 12 made field goals. Lehman has won three of their last four. The only Bloodhound victory this season has come at the hands of the Cougars of Medgar Evers two weeks ago.

The Lightning had to overcome a slow start in the first meeting between the two schools before coming away with a 92-86 victory. Lehman trailed by as many as 14 points in the second half before knotting the game at 73 with seven minutes to play. With the game still tied with 2:36 remaining a
Luis Hernandez fast break lay-up gave the Lightning an 84-82 lead which they would not surrender. A pair of
Andrew Utate jumpers, a lay-up by
John Brens plus a pair of Utate free throws put Lehman over the top.
Mylo Mitchell paced the Lightning with a career high 33 points. Hernandez and Utate added 19 and 15 respectively. Lehman currently sits atop the CUNYAC standings with a record of 15-4:10-1. John Jay is 8-10 overall and 5-6 in league play.

The Lightning Track and Field teams will travel to West Long Branch, NJ to participate in the Monmouth College Winter Collegiate Invitational. Athletes from around the metropolitan area will be competing in the Oceanfirst Bank Center a state of the art facility that opened in 2009.
The men's volleyball team continues action at the Alvernia Quad. The Lightning will battle Alvernia at 10 AM follow by Rutgers Newark at 2 PM. Lehman opened the season with a straight set victory over Neumann. Freshman AJ Szulc led the Lightning with nine kills.
George Montilla recorded a career high 32 assists.
