Box Score New York - The Lehman College men's basketball pushed its win streak to nine games and improved to 17-4 overall and 10-1 in CUNYAC play with a 76-67 victory at Baruch on Tuesday. The triumph secured the top seed and a first round bye in the upcoming CUNYAC Championship.
Lehman trailed 5-0 early before Luis Hernandez got them on the board with a jumper less than two minutes into action. The deficit grew to nine points, 11-2, before Jean Marcial completed a three-point-play to pull the Lightning within six. The Lightning took their first lead at 12:39 when John Brens found Andrew Utate for a three-pointer that made the score, 15-14. A Marcial basket inside of nine minutes gave Lehman the lead for good. They would be up at the break, 37-30.
A Clinton Akalonu layup at 18:30 made the gap ten points, at 43-33. The largest lead for the Lightning, 15 points, came on a Mylo Mitchell three at 8:24. Lehman went on to win, 76-67.
Lehman shot 55.8% from the field and hit threes at a 46.7% clip. Utate led the team with 19 points. Mitchell was 6-7 for 15 points. Hernandez finished with 15 and Marcial totaled 13. The team returns to action on Saturday, February 3, when they host Gwynedd Mercy University as part of the CUNYAC-CSAC Challenge. The opening jump is set for 1:00 PM.
