Basketball Hosts John Jay at Homecoming Volleyball Opens Season in New Jersey

Bronx, N.Y. - The Lehman College basketball teams will be back on the hardwood Saturday as the Athletic Department welcomes back its alumni in the annual Homecoming Doubleheader.  The Lehman women will take to the court at 12 PM will the men will battle John Jay at 3 PM.  In between games the Alumni will face each other in the annual classic.  The Lightning will recognize the 25th anniversary of 1993-94 men's squad that was crowned CUNYAC North Champs. A pre-game tribute is also planned in remembrance of Ray Rankis '75.
 
The men's volleyball team opens the season at the Rutgers Newark Tri-Match.  The Lightning will take on the hosts at 10 AM before battling NJIT at noon.  It is a new era in men's volleyball at Lehman as an entire new squad will suit up for Coach Wolfgang Lucena.  In the pre-season CUNYAC coaches poll the Lightning are predicted to finish sixth in the conference.  "The team is passionate to improve their skills," commented Lucena.  "Our goal is always to make the CUNYAC Tournament.  Once there anything can happen.  This years' schedule is very challenging and should prepare us well."  Fans unable to make the trip to Newark can follow all of the action on line via live stats and live stream.

The Lehman women's basketball team seeks revenge against the Bloodhounds for an early season loss.  Back on December 1, the Bloodhounds defeated the Lightning 69-51.  Lehman enters the game with a mark of 1-15:1-7 while John Jay sports an 8-7:4-4 record.  Fans unable to make the trip to Newark can follow all of the action on line via live stats and live stream.

The Lehman men stand at 6-9 overall and in a log jam in the middle of the pack in the CUNYAC table at 4-4 along with John Jay.  The Bloodhounds are 9-7.  Earlier in the season in a game played at the Doghouse on the John Jay campus the Bloodhounds defeated the Lightning 83-65.  Fans unable to make the trip to Newark can follow all of the action on line via live stats and live stream.
