Bronx, N.Y. – Two Lehman College athletic teams will see action on Tuesday evening (7 pm ET) as women's volleyball squad hosts York College-NY in a CUNYAC match-up, while tennis squad travels to take on Yeshiva University in a non-conference encounter.
Lightning women's volleyball (0-12; 0-4 CUNYAC) face the York-NY Cardinals (0-5; 0-4 CUNYAC) and will look to hit three birds with one spike of the ball as they search for their first victory of the season; a spot into conference playoff; and snap their 16-match losing streak. Lehman holds a 19-2 edge in the head-to-head series against York-NY since 2006. In their last encounter, the Lightning won their 14
th consecutive game against the hosts Cardinals after a 3-1 (25-16, 20-25, 25-17, 25-22) triumph in Jamaica, N.Y. on September 19, 2019.
Andrea Alarcon had six kills with 13 digs and three service aces for Lehman.
Also on Tuesday evening, the Lightning women's tennis (1-7) look to ends its six-match losing streak when it visits Yeshiva Maccabees (0-6) at USTA National Tennis Center in Flushing, N.Y.
Yeshiva has won last four head-to-head outings against Lehman since 2011. In the previous encounter on Sept. 14, 2017, Maccabees posted a 6-3 victory against the visiting Lightning at the USTA National Tennis Center. Lehman took two-of-three doubles matches, however Yeshiva prevailed in the singles taking five of six encounters.
