Women’s Tennis Drops 5-4 Decision To John Jay

Box Score Flushing, N.Y – The Lehman College women's tennis dropped a 5-4 decision to hosts John Jay College in the opening round of the CUNYAC Championships on Sunday.

The event commenced with the doubles action at USTA Tennis Center; however due to the weather the singles competition took place at Bronx's Gotham Tennis.

The Lightning (2-8) dropped two of the three doubles matches to the Bloodhounds, with the duo of Viola Avdyl/Caroline Lopez winning in #1 doubles, 8-3.

At Gotham Tennis, Avdyl was victorious 6-0, 6-1 in #1 singles, while Effie Pang won her #4 singles match-up, 6-1, 6-2.

Lehman's Charlee Stallings posted a 6-1, 6-2 victory in her #6 singles encounter to tie 4-4, however, Lopez lost the final match 4-6, 6-7.

The Lightning will conclude their season on Wednesday (October 26th) when they hosts William Paterson University in a non-conference match-up with first serve set for 4 pm ET.
