Bronx, N.Y. – For a second consecutive home match, the Lehman College men's volleyball team won a five-set thriller (18-25, 25-13, 25-14, 15-25, 18-16, as on Thursday evening, it defeated non-conference opponent Bard College in the regular season finale at The APEX Main Gym. The Lightning go to a 16-9 overall record, while the Raptors dropped to a 12-16 mark.
Prior to the encounter, it was senior night for Lehman as it honored
Joseph Gianfranco Teves,
Emmanuel Oladosu,
Neithan Pilay and
Ray Rodriguez as they played their final regular season match with the Lightning uniform.
After losing the first set, Lehman battled back to win back-to-back sets to take a 2-1 advantage. Bard won the fourth set to send the match to the fifth set. Trailing 14-12 in the fifth set, the Lightning went on 6 to 2 run to win the set and the match.
Almir Pepic led the Lehman offense with 16 kills, while grabbing nine digs and obtaining five blocks. Rodriguez registered nine kills, while
Emmanuel Cochran had seven kills and
Alain Abreu Esteva posted 10 digs.
Christian Agudo recorded a 'double-double' as he dished out 38 assists with 11 digs.
The Lightning will commence the opening round action of the CUNYAC Championships next Tuesday (April 8th) when it travels to Manhattan take on John Jay College at The Doghouse with first serve set for 6 pm ET.
