Both the Lehman College men's and women's outdoor track and field teams turned in a strong performance at the Queens College Knights Invitational this afternoon in Queens, NY, highlighted by multiple personal records, top finishes, and strong efforts across both track and field events.
On the track,
Malalia Siafa-Bangura posted a personal-best 13.97 seconds in the 100-meter dash, getting 9th place overall.
Emmanuella Chukwumeze also had a strong meet, placing 12th in the 100 meters, 11th in the 200 meters with a personal-best 29.77, and 6th in the long jump with a PR of 3.21 meters.
Soumea Atakoura added another standout performance with a 5th-place finish and personal-best 3.96 meters in the long jump.
Amariah Emanuel-Tyler earned a 3rd-place finish in high jump with a personal-best 1.32 meters while also placing 8th in shot put with a PR of 7.02 meters. Amaya Sanchez contributed on both the track and in the field, recording a personal-best 1:19.05 in the 400 meters for 9th place, while also setting a PR of 6.31 meters in shot put. The women's 4x100-meter relay teams closed out the day with times of 55.29 for the A team and 1:06.89 for the B team .
The Lehman men were led by Marc Saint-Hilaire, who delivered one of the top performances of the meet with a 3rd-place finish in the 400-meter dash in 50.43 seconds.
Brandon Dennis added a 14th-place finish in the 400 meters (53.68) and recorded a personal-best 24.88 in the 200 meters, while
Eberto Fernandez placed 16th in the 400 meters (54.36) and 22nd in the 200 meters (24.68).
In the distance events,
Francisco Gonzalez-Sanchez had a strong outing, setting personal records in both races with a 10th-place finish in the 800 meters (2:39.90) and a 9th-place finish in the 1500 meters (5:33.35).
Rismond Agyemang also competed in the 100 meters, finishing in 12.27 seconds.
In the field events,
Charles Howard led the throwers with a 7th-place finish in the shot put (9.30m), while
Daniel Raji-Bolaji posted a season-best 8.47 meters for 10th place. In high jump,
Jahu Johnson cleared 1.65 meters, and
Tyler Rosa added a personal-best 1.50 meters.
Lehman College will look to build on this momentum as the Lightning prepare for their next meet, the Pratt Institute Invitational which will be contested at Queens College.
