Box Score Danbury, Conn. – The Lehman College women's tennis team dropped a heartbreaking 4-3 decision to non-conference rival and host Western Connecticut State University at the Westside Tennis Courts on Tuesday. With the narrow defeat, the Lightning fall to 0-3 overall, while the Wolves improve to 1-3.

Lehman jumped out to an early lead by capturing two of the three doubles matches. The top Lightning duo of Gabriela Vargas and Patricia Santiago-Montes secured a 6-4 victory at No. 1 doubles over the Wolves' Kate Robinson and Eilynn Pierre. Meanwhile, Ndeye (Awa) Ndiaye and Mamie Kolley triumphed at No. 3 doubles, defeating Sharee Priar and Giselle Solorzano 6-2.

Singles action proved to be a battle of endurance, featuring two hard-fought, three-set victories for the Lightning. At No. 2 singles, Elizabeth Nlemchukwu rallied past Pierre for a 3-6, 6-2, 6-4 win. At the No. 6 spot, Kolley showed incredible resilience to outlast Caroline Illescas 6-7, 7-5, 6-1. Despite these strong individual performances, Western Connecticut State managed to claim the remaining four singles points to edge out the overall team victory.

The Lightning will look to bounce back as they commence CUNYAC play on Friday, September 18. Lehman will host Baruch College at The APEX Tennis Courts, with action scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. ET.
