MICHAEL HINTZE STELLAR IN NET AS MEN'S SOCCER STIFLES JOHN JAY COLLEGE, 1-0

Box Score

The Lehman College men's soccer team (3-10 Overall, 3-3 CUNYAC) continued their recent surge, winning for the third time in their last four tries as the Lightning turned back the visiting Bloodhounds of John Jay College (1-8-2 Overall, 0-3-2 CUNYAC) by a score of 1-0 at a rainy South Field in the Bronx.

The Lightning won the game thanks to clutch goaltending by Michael Hintze who posted his second shutout in as many games. This past Wednesday, the standout netminder didn't allow a goal against the York College Cardinals, and today, he was equally impressive, stopping seven shots and helping his team even its conference mark at 3-3. Hintze' shutout streak is now 180 minutes.

The only goal Lehman College would need came in the first half, when Geovanny Arredonde blasted a ball from inside the box that zipped by John Jay goalkeeper Joseph Rahilly to give the Lightning the lead for good. Lehman's Amirouche Ait-Hamouda took a shot from the right side that was stopped by Rahilly, and Arredonde buried the rebound, as that score would be all the offense the Lightning would need for the afternoon. Following the match, head coach Joe Andre' gave his thoughts.

The Lightning return to action on Wednesday afternoon as Lehman battles Brooklyn College in a CUNYAC contest, with start-time scheduled for 5:00pm at the South Field.
