MEN'S SOCCER TEAM FALLS TO FDU FLORHAM ON SECOND DAY OF RAMAPO COLLEGE TOURNAMENT

Box Score

The Lehman College soccer team (0-4 Overall, 0-0 CUNYAC) is still searching for its first victory of the 2009 campaign after falling to the FDU Florham Devils (2-1 Overall, 0-0 Freedom) by a score of 5-0 Sunday afternoon on the second day of the Ramapo College Tournament. The Devils received goals from five different players in the victory.

FDU Florham defender John Gaw got the Devils on the board just 0:58 into the game and junior forward Duncan Swanwick made it 2-0 at the 6:17 mark.  Freshman defender Sean Mosser put up FDU ahead 3-0 with 11:56 left in the first half while senior midfielder Brian Hurley and freshman forward Conor Monaghan each found the back of the net in the second half.

Devils goaltender Tim Kirk picked up a shutout, making two saves in the process. On the flip side, Lehman College goalkeeper Marcos Coto-Batres took the loss, allowing five goals while making four saves on the afternoon. Lightning head coach Joe Andre' gave his perspective on Lehman's weekend at Ramapo following the defeat.

“Obviously, we came to Ramapo this weekend knowing that we were going to be facing two very tough squads,” Andre' said. “We definitely could have played better, but we fell behind early in both games and we weren't able to recover. Hopefully we can learn a little bit from each game we play and apply it moving forward.”

The Lightning return to action Wednesday evening as the team welcomes the City College of New York Beavers to the South Field for a CUNYAC contest, Lehman's first of the 2009 season. Game time is scheduled for 7:00pm.
