The Lehman College baseball team lost a pair of non-conference games to Western Connecticut State University on Tuesday, falling to the Warriors by scores of 13-1 and 15-0 in Danbury, Connecticut.

 

Francisco Sanchez got the start and took the loss for the Lightning in the game one defeat, as he pitched five innings and allowed 11 runs (all earned) on 15 hits while walking two and striking out three. Conor Bierfeldt got the start and the victory for his squad, tossing five innings and allowing one run (earned) on four hits while walking one and striking out six.

 

Despite the loss for the Lightning, Alberto Alicea – who was penciled in as the designated hitter – finished 2-for-2 with a double, a single, and a walk. Bobby Villante doubled and scored the Lightning's lone run. For the Warriors – four different players had at least three hits apiece, with Chris Fiddler tripling, singling twice, scoring two runs, and driving in two runs. Chris Alberto singled three times, scored two runs, drove in two runs and walked once.

 

Jeremy Perez got the start and suffered the loss for Lehman College in game two as he hurled four innings and allowed 10 runs (eight earned) on nine hits while walking two and striking out one. Miles Scribner got the victory as he tossed five innings and didn't allow a run while scattering four hits, walking two, and striking out seven batters.

 

The Lightning had only five hits in the nightcap – including two singles from Villante, two singles from Ignacio Rodriguez, and a single by Jhon Comas Disla. Tim Nelson had a monster game for the Warriors in game two, as he finished 4-for-4 and finished a homerun short of the cycle as he tripled, doubled twice, singled, scored two runs, and drove in six.

 

Lehman College will return to action on Wednesday afternoon as the Lightning take to the road to battle FDU-Florham in a non-conference game, with first pitch scheduled for 4:00pm.
