BRONX, N.Y. - The Lehman men's soccer team could not get back on track following its loss to Baruch College on Wednesday as it dropped a 1-0 decision to visiting SUNY Canton to fall to 2-3 on the season Friday night in the Bronx.
After a scoreless first half, Canton's Kevaugh John untied the game in the 59th minute when he drilled an off balance shot with his left foot that found its way past Lightning keeper
Marcos Coto-Batres for the 1-0 lead.
Lehman did have several outstanding opportunities to tie but could not find the net.
In the 77th minute, the Kangaroos keeper, Sankung Sillah, stifled an excellent chance by
Godson Ahiadu. Five minutes later defender
Carlos Ribeiro almost turned
Oumar Niang's free kick into the equalizer when he headed a ball just wide of the left goal post.
And seconds before the final whistle blew, a hustling
Guihounou Guede came tantalizingly close to running down a bounding ball from midfield that was temporarily bobbled by John as the ball made its way on net.
For the second straight game the Lightning outshot its opponent, piling up 20 shots to the Kangaroos 12.
Next up for the Lightning is a non-conference match against host FDU-Florham on Monday evening.
