Scrappy Men's Soccer Drops 2-1 Decision at Brooklyn College

Box Score

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The Lehman College men's soccer team fell behind early and could not fully recover, falling at Brooklyn College 2-1 on Wednesday night.

Brooklyn scored first on a set piece, a corner kick in the 16th minute. The Bulldogs (6-4-2, 2-1-2 CUNYAC) held that lead into halftime. BC took the 2-0 lead in the 59th minute of the game, on a shot from 30-yards out.

But the Lightning (3-9-1, 2-2 CUNYAC) refused to yield, and finally broke through in the 65th minute, when sophomore Wilfedo Arbieto-Lopez (Lima, Peru/Norwalk) took a corner kick, and sent the ball toward the goal. Freshman Aleh Kazak (Minsk, Belarus) was there to head the ball in, and the Lightning had life.

But it was not meant to be, and Lehman fell 2-1. Sophomore keeper Maurice Whyte (Kingston,Jamaica/Kingston College) made seven stops.

The game was very important in the CUNYAC standings, as Brooklyn now jumps into third place, as Lehman drops to fifth.

There is no rest for the weary, as Lehman plays at John Jay on Saturday, October 6, at 7:00.m. at the Met Oval in Queens. John Jay is 3-1-2 in the CUNYAC and in second place.
