Non-Conference Loss Handed Out By FDU-Florham

April 18, 2012

Box Score

WAYNE, N.J. - A six-run bottom of the fourth inning broke open a 2-1 game as the host FDU-Florham Devils went on to score 11 runs over the final four innings to blast the Lightning 19-1 on Wednesday afternoon, dropping Lehman to 10-15 overall.

Trailing 2-0 entering the top of the fourth, Lehman inched closer on a two-out RBI single by David Painter, but then watched as the Devils strung together five hits, including a three-run triple by Matt Joiner and a two-run home run by Ricky Gathen, in their half of the inning to gain some breathing room.

After Lehman went in order in the fifth, FDU-Florham scored two in their half and then blew the doors off the game with a nine-hit, seven-run sixth inning.

The Lightning managed only six hits off a stable of eight Devils pitchers with Edwin Marrero and David Painter each collecting two.

Gabriel Levine- Justicia took the loss for Lehman despite not allowing a hit in his two innings of work.  He did, however, issue four free passes, hit two batters and throw a wild pitch which helped account for the two runs he allowed.

Lehman has one game remaining on its regular season schedule, a non-conference contest against Stevens Institute of Technology on April 23 on the South Field.
