BRONX, N.Y. - The Lehman men's baseball team closed out the regular season on Tuesday night, dropping its second straight and eighth of its last nine, as visiting Stevens Institute of Technology put a damper on Senior Day with a 19-2 thumping of the Lightning.

After both teams scored two runs in the first inning, the Ducks opened the game up with a seven-run top of the third, an inning marked by some ragged play by the Lightning in the field.

Stevens added a single run in the fifth before batting around in the seventh to score nine runs against Lightning reliever Stephen Valdes.   Ducks' first baseman Matt Glassman provided the capper with a grand slam to end the day's scoring.

The Lightning's two runs came courtesy of an Edwin Marrero sacrifice fly and an RBI single off the bat of Freddy Parra.

Prior to the game the Lehman Athletics Department honored the team's two departing seniors, Euan Shields and four-year player Francisco Sanchez, for their hard work and dedication to the program.  Sanchez went on to start the game, giving up two runs in his two innings of work, while Shields added a highlight reel grab in right field in the top of the second and a well struck double in the bottom of the ninth.

Lehman will now regroup and prepare for its opening game of the CUNYAC Championships against Baruch College on Thursday at 1 p.m. at MCU Park in Coney Island.
