The Lehman College men's soccer squad played a tough, chippy, very physical match with SUNY Purchase, and took away a 1-1 draw.
Ten different players drew the attention of the officials with yellow cards, six from PC and four from Lehman. There were 29 fouls as well.
Lehman (1-5-1 overall) took the 1-0 lead late in the first half on a goal from senior Oumar Niang (Bronx, N.Y./Manhattan Center). Classmate Geovanny Arredondo (Yonkers, N.Y./Yonkers) crossed the ball to the far post in the 44th minute to setup the play.
Purchase (2-2-1) got the equalizer in the 57th minute, on a well placed shot into the bottom right corner. Both teams had opportunities for the rest of regulation, and the game went into bonus time.
In the first overtime, Lehman had two corner kicks, but could not convert. The second overtime saw Purchase carry play, but again, no score.
After 120 minutes of action, the game was declared a draw. Each team managed five shots on goal in the game, with four saves for each side.
Three of the last four matches have been on the road, and this coming Wednesday will make one more. The Lightning make the short trip to face the College of Mt. St. Vincent. The game will be played at Fleming Park in Yonkers, N.Y., at 4:00 p.m.
