Men's Soccer Dominates CCNY 3-0

NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Lehman College men's soccer team have now won two games in a row, defeating the City College of New York, 3-0, in CUNY Athletic Conference play on Saturday morning. The Lightning got goals from three different players and solid play on defense en route to a 3-7-1 overall record, including 2-1 in the CUNYAC.

Captain Carlos Ribeiro (Bronx, N.Y./Bronx International) scored on a direct kick in the game's 17th minute to set the tone. Freshman Aleh Kazak (Belarus, Minsk/Belarus) put the Lightning up 2-0 ten minutes later, and the rout was on. Kazak then set-up junior Momar Thiam (New York, N.Y.)  for the game's final goal, early in the second half.

Defensively, sophomore Maurice Whyte (Kingston, Jamaica/Kingston College) started for the first time in goal, and earned the shutout, making seven saves.

Lehman takes to the pitch again on Monday, October 1, hosting New Jersey City University at 4:00 p.m., in the first game of a doubleheader. The Lehman women's team hosts Medgar Evers College at 7:00 p.m.
