Men's Soccer Can't Hold Early Lead in 2-1 Loss at Baruch

QUEENS, N.Y. – The Lehman College men's soccer team led early, but could not hold off CUNY Athletic Conference powerhouse Baruch College on Wednesday night, as the hosts rallied for a 2-1 win, in a game played at the Metropolitan Oval in Queens. Baruch is now 6-5 overall, but a perfect 5-0 in CUNYAC play. Lehman is now 5-9, and 2-4.

The Lightning took an early lead, in the game's 16th minute, as sophomore Aleh Kazak (Minsk, Belarus/School Number 152) took a pass from junior Hugh Campbell (Bronx, N.Y./Evander Childs) to beat the keeper. The score remained 1-0 into halftime.

Baruch continued to put pressure on the Lehman defense, until the Bearcats found the equalizer in the game's 67th minute. Twenty minutes later, in the game's 87th minute, Baruch took the lead of the game, on Edward Humphreys' second goal.

In all, Baruch outshot Lehman, 29-10. Lehman keeper Alejandro Romero White Plains, N.Y./White Plains) made seven saves.

Lehman remains in the middle of the pack in the CUNYAC, and will travel to face Staten Island on Saturday, October 12, for a 3:00 p.m. start.
