WEST HARRISON, N.Y. - Juniors Alberto German and Michael Liang accumulated for five of Lehman's six base hits, as the Lehman College baseball team fell to Purchase College, 5-1, on Thursday afternoon. The Lightning drop to 3-3 on the young season, while the Panthers improve to 5-5.
German (Santo Domingo, D.R./Cenapec) batted 3-for-4 on the afternoon, while Liang went 2-for-3, with one RBI.
The hosts started the scoring quickly, with two runs in the bottom of the first. Purchase extended their lead in the fifth, on a two-run home run.
Junior Russbert Eugenio (Bronx, N.Y./Environmental Studies) and German led off the Lehman ninth inning with consecutive singles. A few batters later, Liang (Bronx, N.Y./Manhattan Center) hit a sacrifice fly, plating Eugenio for Lehman's lone run of the contest.
Senior starter Freddy Parra (New York, N.Y./George Washington) took the loss, yielding four runs on six hits in five innings pitched. Purchase starter Adam Brant went eight innings on the hill to earn the win.
Lehman returns to action on Saturday, March 23 when they travel to the College of Staten Island in a CUNYAC doubleheader. First pitch is slated at 12:00 p.m.
