BRONX, N.Y – The Lehman College baseball team dropped the rubber match of the three-game series with Staten Island on Sunday, falling 16-5, in a game played on Lehman's South Field. CSI is now 7-7 on the year, while Lehman is 4-5.
The Lightning took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the third, when Alberto German (Santo Domingo, D.R./Cenapec) belted a two-run, two out homerun to left field.
Already trailing 14-2, Lehman would get three runs back in the bottom of the eighth. The first five batters would all reach base safely, including back-to-back doubles by Michael Liang (Bronx, N.Y./Manhattan Center) and Russbert Eugenio (Bronx, N.Y./Environmental Studies).
On the day, German and Kevin Hernandez (Bronx, N.Y./DeWitt Clinton) each had a pair of hits, as German and Eugenio each drove in two runs.
The Lightning look to rebound on Wednesday, March 27, when local rival Mt. St. Vincent comes to campus for a 6:00 p.m. tilt.
