JERSEY CITY, N.J. – The Lehman College baseball team fell to New Jersey City University on Thursday afternoon, 14-0, in non-conference action. Lehman drops to 5-6 on the season, while New Jersey City improves to 9-5 on the year.
Junior Waldo Acosta (New York, N.Y./Bread and Roses) batted 2-for-3 to lead the Lightning.
Lehman's best scoring opportunity came in their first turn at-bat. With one-out, junior Socrates Peralta (Santo Domingo, D.R./Morris) singled, stole second, and advanced to third on a wild pitch. A groundout and strikeout followed, which ended the Lightning threat.
The Gothic Knights led 1-0 after the first and scored four runs in both the second and third innings to break the game open.
Lehman looks to get back to its winning ways when they host John Jay College on Saturday, March 30, in a CUNY Athletic Conference doubleheader. First pitch is set for 12:00 p.m., on Lehman's South Field.
