BRONX, N.Y. – The Lehman College baseball team scored in seven different innings en route to a 17-0 pounding of host Yeshiva University on Tuesday night, in a game played under the lights at Taft High School. The Lightning improve to 11-12 on the season, exceeding the total number of wins from a year ago. More importantly, Lehman is now 5-5 in the CUNY Athletic Conference, as Yeshiva (2-16, 1-8 CUNYAC) is a CUNYAC affiliate member in baseball.
Nine different batters accounted for the 14 total hits for Lehman, with both senior Michael Liang (Bronx, N.Y./Manhattan Center) and junior Socrates Peralta (Santo Domingo, D.R./Morris) each knocking three hits. Peralta tripled during the game, as did senior Edwin Marrero (Brooklyn, N.Y./George Westinghouse), who had a team-high four RBI.
Sophomore Justin Moises (New York, N.Y./John F. Kennedy) earned his first win of the season on the mound, throwing eight complete innings, scattering five hits while striking out 11 batters.
Lehman will face local rival Mt. St. Vincent on Thursday afternoon, in a game that will be played here at Lehman College. However, CMSV will be the home team, and will bat last.
