BRONX, N.Y. – The Lehman College baseball team could not overcome a tough squad from Stevens Tech, falling 10-6 in nine innings. Lehman drops to 11-14 overall, and 5-6 in the CUNY Athletic Conference. Stevens, an affiliate member of the CUYAC in baseball only, is 17-14, and 8-1 in the Conference.
Lehman got a single run in each of the first two innings on RBI singles by juniors Alberto German (Santo Domingo, D.R./Cenapec) and Waldo Acosta (New York, N.Y./Bread and Roses).
Down 5-2 in the middle of the fifth, the Lightning exploded for three runs in the bottom of the fifth. The key hit was a two-run homerun by senior Michael Liang (Bronx, N.Y./Manhattan Center).
The game remained tight until the top of the ninth, when the Ducks got three big insurance runs on only one hit.
For the game, Liang had a pair of hits, with two RBI and two runs scored. First baseman Justin Moises (New York, N.Y./John F. Kennedy) and left fielder Socrates Peralta (Santo Domingo, D.R./Morris) each had two hits as well.
Lehman returns to action on Sunday, April 21, when Bard College pays a visit to Lehman College's South Field.
