Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

BRONX, N.Y. – In the final non-conference doubleheader of the season, the Lehman College baseball team split with visiting Bard College on Sunday afternoon. Lehman took the first game, 6-2, then dropped the nightcap, 12-9. Lehman knocked 22 hits in the two games.

In the opener, Lehman got off to a shaky start, as sophomore Justin Moises (New York, N.Y./John F. Kennedy) allowed a pair of unearned runs in the top of the first. From there, he settled down nicely, scattering five hits in throwing the complete game win. He struck out five and walked just one in seven full innings.

At the plate, the Lightning brought home single runs in each of the first two innings. In the first, junior Alberto German (Santo Domingo, D.R./Cenapec) hit an RBI ground out, scoring junior Russbert Eugenio (Bronx, N.Y./Environmental Studies). In the second, leadoff hitter Kevin Hernandez (Bronx, N.Y./DeWitt Clinton) doubled to left center, then stole third, and scored when the catcher's throw to third sailed into left field.

In the fifth inning, Lehman got the game-winning run when Hernandez and junior Michael Liang (Bronx, N.Y./Manhattan Center) scored unearned runs on a Bard error.

In the bottom half of the sixth inning, a Hernandez double, coupled with the fourth Bard error of the game, scored David Painter (New York, N.Y./Marietta (Ohio)) and Freddy Parra (New York, N.Y./George Washington).

In the second game, Lehman scored in five of the seven innings, but was unwound in the Bard half of the fifth inning, when the Raptors scored eight runs. Eight different Lehman players combined for 15 hits in the game.

Hernandez had three hits and scored three times in the leadoff spot. Liang also had three hits, and three RBI.

Up next for the Lightning is a matchup at SUNY Old Westbury on April 24, at 7:00 p.m.
