Thiam Scores as Men's Soccer Falls to Purchase

BRONX, N.Y. - The Lehman College men's soccer team dropped a 4-1 decision to Purchase College in game two of the men's and women's soccer doubleheader on Monday evening. The Lightning jumped out to an early 1-0 lead, but the Panthers would rally to score the last four goals of the game.

Lehman junior midfielder Momar Thiam (Dakar, Senegal) scored the Lightning's long goal of the game on a rocket shot from 12 yards out. Sophomore midfielder Aleh Kazak (Minsk, Belarus/School Number 152) earned the assist on the goal.

Junior goalkeeper Pedro Simas (Aracaju, Brazil/Graccho Cardoso) made 10 saves for the Lightning (3-4) and stopped several point-blank shots by the Panthers (2-3-1).

The Lightning are back in action on Wednesday, September 18, when they travel to Throggs Neck, N.Y. and take on local rival, SUNY Maritime. The game is scheduled to begin at 5:00 p.m.
