BRONX, N.Y. - The Lehman College men's soccer team dropped a 4-2 decision to local rival, Maritime College, on Wednesday evening. The Lightning scored a goal in each half but it was not enough.

The Lightning (2-5) fell behind, 2-0, in the first half, before senior forward Momar Thiam (Dakar, Senegal) received a pass from sophomore midfielder Aleh Kazak (Minsk, Belarus/School Number 152). Wide open in the box, Thiam launched the ball past Privateers' (3-3-1) goalkeeper to cut the deficit to one, with 18:55 left in the first half.

Late in the second half, junior midfielder Ronniel Mendez (Matanzas, Cuba/Miami Southbridge) passed the ball to sophomore forward Brian Amaya (Yonkers, N.Y./Saunders) in the middle down low. Amaya ran and shot the ball into the net for the Lightning's second goal of the game.

Lehman's goalkeepers Alejandro Romero (White Plains, N.Y./White Plains) and Pedro Simas (Aracaju, Brazil/Graccho Cardoso) each made a save for the afternoon.

The Lightning will be back in action on Saturday, September 21, when they open the conference portion of their schedule, at Hunter College. The game is scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m. The game will be played at Randall's Island.
