NEW YORK, N.Y. – Emmanuel Adesanlu scored his fifth goal of the season in the second overtime on Saturday, securing a 3-2 overtime victory for the Lehman College men's soccer team over Hunter College. Lehman had built a 2-0 lead early in the second half, before the host Hawks came roaring back.
Adesanlu (Lagos, Nigeria/Coker Secondary) took a pass from sophomore Aleh Kazak (Minsk, Belarus/School Number 152) in the second session of overtime session for the win.
Junior Arthur Da Silva (Sao Paulo, Brazil/E.E. Dr. Octavio Mendes) scored the first goal of the game in the 31st minute, before classmate Ronniel Mendez (Mantanzas, Cuba/ Miami Southbridge) scored in the 52nd minute as Lehman (3-5, 1-0 CUNY Athletic Conference) took the 2-0 lead.
Barely a minute later, Hunter (0-9, 0-1 CUNYAC) scored its first goal, before getting the equalizer in the 65th minute.
Freshman Alejandro Romero (White Plains, N.Y./White Plains) made 13 saves for Lehman.
Lehman concludes a tough stretch of games that saw three straight road games, which were part of a larger trend that saw five of the last six away from the South Field.
Conference play continues for the Lightning, who will travel to York College on Wednesday, September 25. The game is scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m.
