MSOC celebrates goal

Five Players Score Goals as Men's Soccer Hammers SLC, 8-0

BRONX, N.Y. - The Lehman College men's soccer team dominated play as they defeated Sarah Lawrence College by a score of 8-0 at South Field on Saturday. Junior Ronniel Mendez led the way with three goals while classmate Emmanuel Adesanlu added two goals of his own coming off the bench. Freshman goalkeepers Alejandro Romero and Jesus Marin combined to split the shutout win.

Mendez (Matanzas, Cuba/Miami Southbridge) started the rout early, by tacking his first of three goals on the day, just 4:06 into the match. He added his second goal later in the half at the 43:23 mark to extend the Lightning lead to 3-0.

Both of Adesanlu's (Lagos, Nigeria/Coker Secondary) goals came in the second half. His first came at 51:27, when he took the ball from the defender and shot it opposing goalkeeper past Keith Uday to increase Lehman's lead to 5-0. Less than five minutes later, Adesanlu added his second goal of the afternoon to put the Lightning up 6-0.

Abraham Enahoro (Lagos, Nigeria/E.G.S.) tallied a goal and an assist to help pace the Lightning offense. Senior Momar Thiam (Dakar, Senegal/GED) netted his first goal of the season to conclude the scoring for Lehman. Arthur Da Silva (Sao Paulo, Brazil/E.E. Dr. Octavio Mendes) also scored a goal while junior Jonathan Moallem (New Rochelle, N.Y./New Rochelle) and freshman Roger Garcia (Bronx, N.Y./John F. Kennedy) had an assist each.

Romero (White Plains, N.Y./White Plains) started the game and stopped all five shots on goal he faced to earn the win. Marin (New York, N.Y./Manhattan Village Academy) came in relief and played the final 27:22 and did not allow a goal. Lehman had 16 shots on goal while Sarah Lawrence had five shots on goal. The Lightning had a 4-3 corner kick advantage.

Lehman will head to Old Westbury, N.Y. on Wednesday Sept. 11 when they take on the College of Old Westbury. The game is scheduled to begin at 4:00pm
